I just love that $10 off $50 coupon!

So, if you haven't already clipped the Safeway $10 off $50 coupon that came in Tuesday's paper, find one! They are also in the Emerald Valley Shopper insert for FREE. Those can be found in front of Lak Yan on West 11th and also in front of the Thurston Bi-Mart. I know that they are probably in other locations too, but those are the two I am aware of. Anyway, that coupon is worth 20% off your groceries!

For me, that means I can shop at my CLEAN, WELL ORGANIZED Gourmet Safeway and not feel a bit guilty because when I stick to mainly their sales, plus an additional 20% off, I am doing as well as I would at any other store, even WINCO. (I even get help out to my car:)) That is worth something!!!

So, on to my shopping: I spent $40.17 and saved $67.03!!!! So exciting. How?
well, I bought their "Lost Leaders" like
.99 butter
Life cereal for .99/box
Turkey breast boneless for $5 (this will be lunch meat all week after I roast it tomorrow....sounds scary but really is very easy)
Milk ($2/gallon if you buy 2....I can use 4)
Produce ( I love Safeway produce) like:
oranges .59/#
Apples 6# for $3.99
Lettuce
Broccoli

I took advantage of their great deal on Tostitos and Pepsi. Not something that I would regularly buy but had some great coupons and the soda will last until this summer when we have some fun picnics. I got 2 bottle packs and 3 Tostitos for $3.50!!

I always check out the reduced meat section and also their marked down yogurts because we eat that stuff so fast, I need not worry about expiration.

I also purchased some other items that I needed on my grocery list to avoid a trip to another store and still I felt I saved a ton.

I am telling you all this to encourage you to try to make this coupon work for you. If it is hard for you to do mental math to get to $50, take along a calculator. When I was checking out, I was cheered by my checker and the lady behind me. I invited them both to my coupon class on May 13th at Faith Center. Can't help but get excited :)

Happy Saving and enjoy the GUILT FREE trip to Safeway this week!

Something to do Saturday

Just in case you don't have kids playing baseball, soccer or some other event on Saturday morning, I have two ideas for you:

1. Home Depot has a free craft project for kids on the first Saturday of the month. I think for April your child will get to build a bird house. A fun hands on project. Time is 9-12.

2. Fred Meyer Fuchsia Saturday. Each year they do this great planting day. You purchase the starts and bring in your own pot, hanging basket etc. and they will plant the flowers for you. Geraniums are part of this sale too. I have done this in the past and the starts are filled out by June and create great color for your patio at a fraction of the cost of mature flowers in the summer. Check out the Fred Meyer ad for more information.

Have a great weekend!

Cheap ideas for Easter Baskets

Well, I fell on a great deal for some fun family DVD's today and thought I would share. On Smartsource.com you can currently print DVD coupons for $3 off a variety of different DVD's. I was at Walmart buying a few items today and found that some of those DVD's are $4 and $5. So, with the corresponding coupons, they are $1 and $2!

Here are the ones I found:
Cheaper By the Dozen
Dr. Doolittle 2
All Dogs Go to Heaven.

I was at the Greenacres Walmart and they have more of the "All Dogs" but none of the Cheaper By the Dozen.

Some of the other coupons, like the Garfield Movie are $7, so $4 after coupon. Still not bad if your kids would love that movie!

Also, if you are at Walmart, by sure to use the Kotex coupons for .75/1 pantiliner, .25 out of pocket and the $1.50 off 1 Kraft salad dressing (from last SUnday) That makes a dressing .08 cents. Can't beat that!

Cheap Cereal on Wednesday at Albertsons

Albertson's: Post cereal for $0.17!

A number of varieties of Post cereals are on sale this week at most Albertson's stores around the country for $1.57 per box when you buy two. Albertson's also currently has a catalina deal running where if you buy five boxes of Post cereal, you'll receive a coupon for $5 off your next order. There were also $1/2 Post cereal coupons in the 3/1 and 3/29 SmartSource inserts.

So, here's how you can work this into a really sweet deal:

Buy 5 boxes of Post cereal (select varieties only)
Use 2 $1/2 coupons
Spend $6.35
Get a $5 catalina back
$0.17 per box of cereal after the sale, coupons, and catalina!

I have received info from readers that you need to purchase 6 of the cereal in order to get the good prices $1.57/box. Keep that in mind. Still a great deal without coupons even, less than $1/box.

The best news? You can roll this deal multiple times. Meaning, you can use the $5 catalina you earn on your first order, to go back and buy five more boxes of cereal at this price. This will make your out-of-pocket expense even lower and you'll get back another $5 catalina!

Even without the coupons, the sale price and the catalina deal make these cereals $0.67 per box--which is a great deal!
If you don't have any of these Post coupons, it might be worth buying some from ebay but you need to do that tonight or tomorrow so they arrive before the sale ends on April 7th.
